Is LinkedIn Elevate Worth Your Attention?

When LinkedIn announced (i.e. teased us with) their beta launch of a new tool, designed to get your employees to share more relevant content more often, we were intrigued.

This product is an engagement dashboard that LinkedIn calls LinkedIn Elevate and its self-described purpose is, “Helping companies empower their employees to share content”.

What Does LinkedIn Elevate Actually Do?

The exact look and feel of the product is still a mystery, as it is only available to select companies, but we do know that it is based around three essential functionalities.

1. Content Curation.

The app recommends trending stories and blogs from both LinkedIn Pulse, LinkedIn Communities and Newsle, based on an algorithm designed to show the employees relevant stories that reflect their presence on LinkedIn.

I would speculate that this is based on which Influencers you follow, who you are connected with, your job title, industry, what content you interact with on LinkedIn, etc.

To put it simply, it finds out what your professional interests are, and delivers content recommendations.

2. Easy social sharing

LinkedIn Elevate will facilitate the sharing of this content on LinkedIn…obviously. It will also allow you to share to your Twitter account.

3. Measure the impact

This feature allows the employee and the company alike to view statistics and results of their content sharing. You can track the usual suspects, such as shares, engagement, and reach. While these are nice, they aren't a game changer.

The Powerful Features of LinkedIn Elevate

LinkedIn has also claimed that you can directly track how many leads and new hires that this tool generates. In my opinion, this is the most interesting part.

Here are a few other features I’d be in seeing to make us here at LinkedSelling more interested in signing up:

  • Is there is a way to pay for your content to show up in front of certain people or certain interests? (Similar to Outbrain or Taboola)
  • Can a company admin manually add content to the mix?
  • What ways can you stack the game in your favor to make sure your content is getting shown more often?
  • Can you filter out competitors?

As I said above, LinkedIn Elevate is still in it's infant stages of growth for LinkedIn users right now. But after speaking with a representative from their team we know that they are making it a huge part of their content marketing plan to increase engagement on LinkedIn. But until we feel LinkedIn Elevate will outperform paid advertising on the platform, we'll be staying on the sidelines. We should get a clearer picture of what LinkedIn Elevate is when we feel the juice is worth the squeeze.

If you're dying for more information and access to the product, you can request more information through a web form at the bottom of the product page.

Again we are holding off on joining for now,  but so keep an eye out for an update once we decide to make the plunge and play around with LinkedIn Elevate here at LinkedSelling.

If Not LinkedIn Elevate, Where Should I Start To Grow My Business On LinkedIn?

The beauty of LinkedIn and running lead generation campaigns on LinkedIn is that you can reach out to your connections directly to build trust and sincere relationships that you can nurture into productive business conversations. Multi-touchpoint outreach LinkedIn Marketing Campaigns are still king and look to remain that way for quite some time.
